KTM Kickstand Repair Kit
Most folks who have owned a KTM, Husqvarna, or GasGas have had their kickstands come apart. It flops around and is expensive to fix - about $70 from KTM. Extreme Parts offers this kit for $25.95. It's a great kit to keep in your toolbox, especially if you are traveling for racing or dual sport trips.

Just picked up a 2018 300XCW 6days!
It used to happen all the time with chainsaws, that's why they invented spark arrestors.
What is your setup for 2013
What if the bike wants to stall when you have 1-5% throtle going real slow, it lugs fu e until I go to give it a tiny bit of gas and it stalls or stutters ? I haven't blocked of the ais yet on a crf450l
Any ideas if everything’s getting power but the solenoid doesn’t click and the starter won’t jump? I put a new starter in it thinking it went bad but still the same. .17 300xcw
An over-engineered kickstand that uses an overburdened small screw to fasten the plate to connect the springs.
Looks like a fun build with great parts!
It's great that these parts are less expensive than the ktm parts but what would be even better is a product that would help prevent the kickstand mounting hardware from falling out in the first place.
Loctite.
Yes, an obvious thing to use. And yet I have heard many reports of people using thread lock but still having the spring fly off, and sometimes the entire kickstand falling off.
The boss that the bolt goes into broke off my 21.
I have a 22 and sad to see the "new style" kick stand also sucks. On my third set of hardware for my 22.
@@Danman1972 Hello The new kickstand does not suck, works very well.
@@slaverace1 Mine on my 22 works well until it rockets the hardware into the woods!
I have never had a problem with any of my KTM kickstands...when performing an oil change and air filter cleaning I check the kickstand bolts and lube the assembly, that's the difference between all the other people having issues, they don't check things. BTW, my buddies Beta kickstand flew off springs and all. So it's not a KTM issue.
I run 5 lbs on Tubliss on the VE33S. 60 hrs on them riding CO, UT, ID. Won't change them until I rip one of the lugs, still good tread on them. They are all cracking at the base but not one has ripped off yet. Great tire.
Hello There is no step 1 or step 2. It’s a product video, not a how to video which is already on our channel.
step 1: remove the kickstand. step 2: there is no step 2.
👍
So I’m between this one and the fast way. Does anyone have insight?
@@Jack-by2hg Hello Jack Any of the many brands we sell are much better than the Fisch that really restrict flow and reduce HP.
@@slaverace1 thanks for the quick response!! I’m going to go with the fastway!
Just bought a 2024 KTM 300 XC-W. Didn't even know I needed this. Found this video while trying to figure out what springs I need for my fat body. This, plus not worrying about sag is going to simplify things for a newer rider. Thank you!
I’m mid 40’s…. getting nervous about things. I want to ride and live.
I just bought the same bike and was wondering what all the parts where in the bag. The service department at my dealership wasn’t quite sure. It looked like to me a de-smog kit. If that is what it is, it would be great to have a video on doing the exchange of the parts. Looking forward to your build. Like and subscribed.
Hello David: Sorry, I can't make that video because I already removed the smog stuff. It is very simple, dive in.
I’ve had 3 heart attacks and a stroke this January.. starting in Jan of 07’.. and I’m back riding.. It’s be hungry and learn. So I’m 35 lbs less. I’m plant based. No drinking or crap food. I just started taking magnesium and headaches I had for 50 years disappeared!!! I’m more fit and working on being better. I’ve got 11 stents in my heart. Just keep working at it.
I’m 63
Sorry to hear you've had a rough road. Hang in there and never give up.
Do you recommend we install a TPI Injector relocation kit with this reflash or just keep the injectors stock? Thanks!
Hello Surfer Dude: I'm not a fan of the relocation kit. Sorry, we no longer offer the reflash service because the TSP ERM slavensracing.com/shop/ecu-reflash-module-erm-by-two-stroke-performance/ is much better for only a few dollars more. The ERM will blow your mind, easy to install and use and excellent performance gains.
Thanks Jeff! This is very good to know!
Nice review. Thanks. Do you know if it uses the same mousse as M59?
Yes it does
If you don't like it I might be interested in buying it next year. I'm going to get a 24 or 25 depending on if they really don't change anything for 2025.
Hello: I think there are people already in line.
What number am I?❤😂
So it will fit on my 2024 500 exc f road registered with headlight?
Hello Rodney: Sorry, it does not fit models with a headlight.
I literally did this today. This video saved me, I even bought a new battery and it turned out I had the two screws mixed up. Switched them back and the starter worked no problem. Thanks Jeff.
You're welcome.
What did you think about the progressive spring on your bike Jeff? Alek said you went with that for a while. I already installed the National and Lucky's in my 2022 500 EXCF, but hoping I don't need to go that far with the so24 300 XC-W? By the way, the MX Tech on the 500 with the Mule valving is simply incredible!
Hello Mark: The O.E.M. shock will never come close to the National shock, but installing a progressive spring gave it more bottoming resistance.
i did this on my 2020 300 xcw and also the Coober ECU. WOW it runs so much better. off idle is way better. no more pipe bang, and no more stalling on downhills. super happy with this bike.
Thank you.
Great video. How long does the motoz arena hybrid gummy last for?
Hello: Service life varies greatly depending on the engine displacement, type of terrain and your throttle skills.
Hi Jeff What bend are the odi bars??Looking forward to the build!
Hello: KTM OE bars slavensracing.com/shop/podium-flight-mx-handlebars-by-odi/ .
Or your friends free take offs with 6lbs and a uhd tube.
Do I need to change the ECU if the remove vacuum pump?
No you don’t….i didn’t do it with mine. It runs Titties!!!!!
Hello Cade: The vacuum pump only removes fumes from the fuel tank and has NO effect on fueling, however the bikes are extremely lean from the factory and the ECU needs upgraded for proper performance, to stop flame outs and to increase engine life. Vortex slavensracing.com/?s=vortex&post_type=product GET slavensracing.com/shop/slavens-mule-athena-get-sx1-pro-4t-ecu-kit-for-ktm-hqv-gg/
What GPS do you recommend that has trails and dirt roads on the map and provides turn by turn direction arrows?
We like the Garmin Zumo or Trail Tech Voyager. slavensracing.com/shop/zumo-xt-by-garmin/ slavensracing.com/shop/voyager-pro-offroad-gps-kit-trail-tech/
Great video which makes me have a question regarding my '21 500 XCF-W. Going to install a fuel dongle and disconnect the 02 sensor 9:31 . Should i leave the reed1 installed or remove it? Don't want it to run lean. Thx!!
Hello From the factory they are extremely lean and any mod you do to the intake or exhaust will make it even leaner. To correct the lean issue you MUST replace the ECU with a Vortex or GET ECU. There are NO cheaper solutions that are worthwhile.
saw,, isnt riding over logs a given
Good luck with your recovery. You are looking great. I just finished up my hormone and 9 weeks of radiation treatment. So far so good. The difficulty involved with PC treatment varies with every individual.
Thank you.
Great video. I gained quite a bit of weight. According to the chart I should have the next spring up. I hope/expect to get back down in the range of my current spring and I don't want to "spring" for a new spring just yet. Maybe down the road if I end up stuck at this weight. Is there a rule of thumb for how much extra pre-load to start off with when you find yourself on a spring that is one notch down from where you should be?
Hello Rob: You should never crank up the preload to compensate for the wrong spring and you should never change just the shock spring. Both will make the bike out of balance. Leave it as is or change fork and shock springs.
How do you like this light what does it compare too?
Works great for me. I use it for tunnels and for emergencies. It has 2375 lumens. If you want a light for night riding, you need one of our many options with higher output.
Yeah Jeff's a legend cheers again Jeff.
Thank you.
You are so right Jeff! I hate that fast idle when the engine is cold, and as you have explained, more air will lean out the bike. I thank you for your excellent advice. Keep up the good work!
Thank you.
Do you recommend the BR7 on the new ‘24 300 XC-W?
@@andrewhaines5701 Hello Yes, I use the NGK BR7eix in my ‘24 300w.
Looked like you had a screw loose when you were showing the external adjustment?
I do have a screw loose, I ride dirt bikes.
@@slaverace1 lol..me too!
@@slaverace1 honestly though, it was at the 7:07 mark ;)
Thank you Jeff, I am also curious, can 2 of these be installed in one shock? Lowering bike around the 60mm mark? I want to fit a wp rear shock to beta xtrainer but would need two lowering rings stacked, is that possible ?
Yes, but lowering it that much will throw the bike WAY out of balance and might require a shorter spring.
dang i read in manual 3 hrs was the break in period and now im reading have to change oil after 1 hr. Im at 2.2 hours how bad is this . that im just now going to drain and change oil at 2.2 hours
2.2 hours is ok, but I run my bikes longer on the break in fluid.
Can I do the smog, exhaust screen, and intake reeds delete with the vortex? Thank you
@@repauley007 Hello: Yes, the Vortex will accommodate all of those mods. If you are a trail rider, you might consider leaving in the reeds for better and smoother low-end throttle response
I just bought a 2024 XW-F 500, what is the difference between it and the EXC-F 500 model, to me it just looks like the street legal add ons, but google says the XW-F 500 has 39.5HP and the EXC-F 500 has 64HP.
Hello: Whatever your source is, those numbers are wrong! They have the same engines and are basically the same bikes. The EXC has more useless junk, like turn signals, DS tires, etc..
You didn't mention if you had to add or subtract any chain links when you went to 15 front setup or back to the 14 setup. I just put 13/49 back on my 2016 500 and like it better than the 14/50 or 14/48, mainly for trails. Don't care to go past 60 on any highway anyway so I gear for dirt riding. 14/48 seems a little throttle sensitive to me on trails and 14/50 not bad but still a little tall, 13/50 was pretty good to a little short for the power the 500 has. It is all about personal preference.
The OEM chain accommodates the 14 or 15T sprockets.
Is it normal for it to be pretty Smokey during the first ride ? 23 te300
Hello: If you installed a head and now have increased smoke, that is not good. Sounds like you damaged one of the head o-rings.
I just bought this bike last Monday 06-24-24. It’s an awesome bike. Uncorking it next week and should ride a whole lot better.
My kid has had one for the last 6 months. Uncorked with a jd tuner and she freakin rips!!!
Hello: You are on the right track to "uncork" it BUT when you do you do, you will need to upgrade the ECU slavensracing.com/shop/vortex-10-map-ecu-ktm-vortex/ to correct the lean fueling and hugely improve the engine performance.
@@slaverace1 on top of that. Best Dual Sports bikes is able to retune/reflash stock ecu for under 400.00
Be waiting patiently for the review as I’m considering this model for my next bike. I’m not at elevation so that won’t be an issue.
Hello: Stay tuned please. It's coming soon.
Fyi the gg race models come with those same cast clamps.
Can I make any adjustments to my tuning to make the throttle more progressive or should I just get a G2 Throttle Tamer?
Hello: A throttle Tamer makes the throttle response more linear, not progressive. Linear = smooth, progressive = hard hit.
@@slaverace1 Progressive would mean less response with less throttle and increasing response with increasing throttle and linear would be the same amount of response the entire throttle turn?
